Ready to whip up a batch of these delicious double chocolate chip Halloween monster cookies? You will need the following ingredients:

  • Butter, melted
  • Brown sugar
  • White sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Eggs
  • Black food colouring, optional but makes the cookies darker
  • Plain flour
  • Cocoa powder
  • Cornflour, or cornstarch
  • Bi carb soda
  • Dark chocolate chips
  • Candy eyeballs

How to make Halloween monster cookies

Before making a start on the cookie dough, first preheat the oven to 160c fan forced. Line 2 x baking trays with baking paper and set aside.

To a large mixing bowl add the melted butter, brown sugar and white sugar. Mix until well combined. Next, add the vanilla extract and black food colouring if using and mix through. Finally, add the eggs, one at a time, and mix until well combined.

To the cookie mixture, add the plain flour, cocoa powder, cornflour and bi carb soda. Mix until just combined. Stir through the dark chocolate chips.

Take tablespoons of cookie dough and roll into balls, placing each ball on the lined baking trays. Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. While the cookies are still hot, press 4 or 5 candy eyeballs into each cookie. Allow to cool completely on the baking trays. Store the cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.

  • 150g butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Black food colouring, optional
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups plain flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon cornflour (cornstarch)
  • 1 teaspoon bi carb soda
  • 1/2 cup dark chocolate chip cookies
  • Candy eyeballs

Instructions
