Get to know the weekly specials cycle

One of the best ways to save money on your weekly grocery bill is to get to know the weekly specials cycle.  If you follow supermarket catalogues each week, you will start to notice certain products often go on specials, with the same discount each time, with a cycle that might range from every 2-6 weeks.  Once you start to take note of this cycle, you will know how many of each item you will need to stock up on, to get you through to the next sale on that item.  You will also understand which products to never pay full price on again!

For example, if you use Tresemme shampoo or conditioner, you might have noticed this is often reduced by 50% at Coles, Woolworths, Big W and Kmart, from $10 to $4.99.  This is a significant saving, just think of how much money you could save by making sure you buy your most used products only when they are half price!  Other examples of items reduced by half price, or near half price, every few weeks are:

– Continental Cup a Soups – $1 reduced from $2

– Heinz or SPC Baked Beans or Spaghetti – $1 reduced from $1.69

– 50% off the whole range of Decor and Sistema containers

– Pantene Shampoo or Conditioner – $3.94 reduced from $7.89

– Zafarelli Pasta 500g – $1 reduced from $1.69

– Redwin Sorbelene with vitamin E 1 litre – $2.89 reduced from $5.79

– Cold Power Laundry Powder 1.8/2kg or Liquid 2 Litre $7.49 reduced from $14.99
