This is the ultimate budget friendly chocolate slice, containing only 6 ingredients and costing us a total of $2.80 to make. You can add chocolate icing on top once it cools if you like, but we think it also tastes pretty amazing without. Not only is this slice cheap to make, but it’s also a super easy, one bowl dessert. Just mix the ingredients together in a bowl, baking in a slice tin and you’re done!
To make the slice, first add self raising flour, brown sugar, desiccated coconut and cocoa powder to a large mixing bowl, and mix until combined. Next, add an egg and some melted butter to the bowl and mix once again until all ingredients are well combined. Pour the mixture into a slice tin lined with baking paper and bake for 10 minutes. The slice will still be slightly soft in the middle but that’s good, it gives the slice a nice fudgy texture once cooled. Eat this slice while it’s still warm or wait until it cools, it tastes great either way.

- 1 cup Self Raising Flour
- 1/2 cup Brown Sugar
- 1 cup Dessicated Coconut
- 2 tablespoons Cocoa Powder
- 1 Egg
- 125 grams Butter, melted
Preheat the oven to 180c. Add the flour, sugar, coconut and cocoa powder to a large bowl and mix until combined. Add the melted butter and egg and mix well.
Spread mixture in a lined slice tin and bake for 10 minutes. The slice will be slightly soft in the middle still, giving it a fudgy texture.
Enjoy warm or wait until cooled, it's great either way.
