Chocolate Crazy Mug Cake

 Chocolate Crazy Mug Cake

You might be wondering why this Chocolate Crazy Mug Cake has the word crazy in the name?  It’s adapted from a crazy cake recipe, which is cake with no eggs, no butter and no milk.  The cake is mixed in the same dish it is baked in, making it extremely quick and easy to make, with next to no cleaning up afterwards.  This version of crazy cake is made in a mug in the microwave, and is a generous serving size for one, or a smaller serving size for two.

It’s great just using the ingredients in the recipe below, or you could top the cake with chocolate chips as soon as it comes out of the microwave like I did, or even mix chocolate chips through the batter before cooking.

Chocolate Crazy Mug Cake

Chocolate Crazy Mug Cake

  • 5 tablespoon plain flour
  • 3 1/2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cocoa
  • 1/4 teaspoon bi carb soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 4 1/2 tablespoons water

Add all dry ingredients to a large mug and mix well. Add the wet ingredients and mix again until well combined.
Place mug in microwave for 1 minute 20 to 1 minute 40 depending on your microwave. This can take a bit of trial and error since every microwave is different, but it's better to undercook than overcook, which will result in a dry cake.
