Peach Crumble Smoothie
Smoothies are the ultimate healthy snack or even breakfast on the run. There are endless combinations of fruit that can be used to make a fruit smoothie, but this Peach Crumble Smoothie uses frozen chopped peaches for something a little different. I have a peach tree packed with more peaches than I know what to do with right now, so I chopped up and froze a whole heap of peaches, which is how this recipe came about.
Smoothies are the type of recipe that don’t need to be followed precisely. Feel free to mix and match the ingredients depending on what you have on hand. You could use un-frozen fruit, but you will end up with a much runnier smoothie. For that reason, I always keep frozen fruit in the freezer, as it makes the best, coldest smoothies. Freezing ripe fruit is also a great way to use it up rather than it going to waste.
To make this Peach Crumble Smoothie, you first want to start with a base of rolled oats. Because whole rolled oats are very hard to suck up through a straw, use your blender to grind them up into a fine powder. Next, add to the ground oats your frozen peaches, yoghurt, milk, honey, vanilla extract and some ground cinnamon. Blend it all together until it’s nice and smooth and it’s ready to serve. I poured mine into a tall glass cup and garnished it with a slice of peach and a sprinkling of rolled oats.
- 1/2 cup rolled oats
- 1 1/2 cups chopped peaches, frozen
- 3/4 cup yoghurt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Add the rolled oats to a blender and blend until the oats turn into a fine powder.
- Add all of the remaining ingredients and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
